Viking Oven Repair
Double wall ovens are common in this town, and the lower cavity usually fails first because it does the most work. We test the sensor, the elements and the relay board before deciding what actually needs replacing.
01 symptom against test
What you describe, and what gets measured
| How it is described | What we test for it |
|---|---|
| Lower oven dead while the upper one still works | Cavity temperature logged against the set point through a full preheat |
| Convection fan running but the cavity staying cold | Sensor resistance at room temperature and again at heat |
| Display frozen or unresponsive to touch | Bake, broil and convection element continuity and visible condition |
| Broil element glowing at one end only | Relay behaviour on the control board, which is what usually kills a lower cavity |

What moves the number
We do not publish repair prices. A figure printed on a web page is a figure nobody arrived at by looking at your appliance, and quoting one would only mean revising it on the doorstep. Four things decide the total, all four are known by the end of the diagnosis, and you hear it then.
| Repair | From | To |
|---|---|---|
| Igniter or burner assembly | $270 | $650 |
| Oven thermostat or heating element | $230 | $740 |
| Control board or touch panel | $390 | $920 |
| Dishwasher pump or control | $300 | $1,300 |
| Refrigeration fan or defrost system | $300 | $710 |
| Compressor or sealed-system repair | $1,160 | $2,420 |
Flat $95 service call covering the visit and full diagnosis, credited against the repair once you approve it.
- Which part
- A burner cap and a control board are not the same repair, and the diagnosis is what tells them apart.
- Access
- A slide-in range pulls forward in minutes. A built-in behind cabinet panels does not.
- Availability
- A current part arrives quickly. An older one may have to be sourced, and that changes the schedule as well as the cost.
- How long it ran
- An appliance run hard with a known fault often has a second thing to find, and it is cheaper to hear about it now.

Convection fan was spinning happily but the cavity stayed cold. An element had failed open at the rear connector where insulation had scorched. Both replaced, and he checked the wiring on the twin above.

Broil element only glowed at one end. He tested across it, found the break, and had a replacement on the van. Full test cycle run before he left.

Lower cavity of the double wall unit was dead while the upper one carried on working. The relay board had a burned trace. He photographed it and showed me before ordering, which nobody has done before.
